The Honeywell HERMetic UTImeter Rtex is a high-precision portable restricted tank gauging instrument designed for safe and accurate measurement applications on marine vessels, petroleum terminals, refineries, chemical storage facilities, and offshore installations. The system provides reliable ullage measurement, temperature verification, and oil-water interface detection while supporting restricted tank gauging operations in hazardous environments.
Designed for use with a compatible HERMetic vapor control valve, the UTImeter Rtex enables operators to perform tank measurements while minimizing exposure to hazardous vapors. Its rugged modular construction, factory-calibrated sensing technology, electronic measurement capabilities, and hazardous-area approvals make it suitable for custody transfer, cargo monitoring, inventory control, free water detection, and tank gauging applications across marine and oil & gas industries.

Sensor Technology
Temperature Sensor: RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector) technology provides accurate and stable temperature measurements of the cargo. RTD sensors are widely used in marine and industrial applications because they offer reliable performance across a broad temperature range.
Level Measurement: Electronic ullage measurement determines the distance from the reference point at the top of the tank to the surface of the liquid. This allows operators to calculate the cargo level accurately without opening the tank, improving safety and reducing exposure to vapors.
Interface Detection: Oil-water interface sensing identifies the boundary between oil and water layers inside the tank. This is particularly useful for determining water contamination, measuring water bottoms, and improving cargo quantity calculations.
Calibration: The sensor is factory-calibrated before delivery to ensure accurate and consistent measurements. Factory calibration helps reduce setup time and provides confidence that the instrument is ready for use in demanding tank gauging applications.
Integrated Multi-Parameter Measurement
An integrated multi-parameter instrument combines several measurements in one portable device. Instead of using separate equipment for ullage, temperature, and interface detection, the operator can perform multiple checks during a single controlled gauging operation.
Typical measurement functions may include:
Ullage or liquid level
Product temperature
Oil-water interface
Free water depth
Product presence at a selected level
Measurement depth or probe position
This integrated approach improves efficiency and reduces the number of instruments required on deck or at the tank access point. It also helps ensure that measurements are taken from the same location and under similar conditions.
